So this drama isn’t really living up to my standards. We know what Umera Ahmed’s writing skills combined with Baber Javed’s directing can do, having seen it in MeriZaat, but unfortunately, it’s not really standing out in QET. No extraordinary dialogue, no incredible acting, nothing.One thing that I’m still pretty pissed about is that we have NO IDEA what happened in the past. I mean, they keep showing these flashbacks, but in my opinion, they’re not really elaborating at all on what happened. I feel the need to compare QET with MeriZaat, since the two are so similar in concept. Episode 8 was the episode for MeriZaat, the one where the mystery of what Saba did (or lack thereof) to make her an outcast was revealed. QET, however, has not really made any progress as far as revealing the mystery goes. For the past 3 episodes, we’ve been stuck in present day wishing that Noor and Ayesha would just go to the UK already so we wouldn’t have to suffer through any more fighting between Moiz and his mother.So this is what’s happened in present day: Moiz (Faisal Qureshi), Ayesha (SaweraNadeem), Furhan (ZorainNizamani) and Noor (NeelamMuneer) head out to the UK. Before they leave, Moiz’s mom (Saba Hameed) comes out to say goodbye, giving Furhan some money as a farewell gift. Furhan gives it back, saying that he could only accept it if she did the same for Noor Appa, proving once again that he is the best character in this show. The others aren’t bad, they’re human, they make mistakes. But Furhan is a kid going through a lot right now, and yet he still manages to be sweet and caring, towards Noor no less, the sister who hates him.The crew reach UK, go to Moiz’s home, and Furhan shows Ayesha around the house. There’s more of Ayesha acting all ghost-like and mysterious; there’s more of Furhan being super sweet and naïve, like when he assumes that Ayesha will be staying in his Dad’s room; and there’s more of Noor being rude and ill-mannered towards her father. Same old same old, nothing new at all. things are slowly heating up. Moiz finally gets his Visa to go to the UK, but as it turns out, only him and his family, excluding Ayesha, were supposed to know about it. Ayesha does what Moiz expected her to do, and freaks out.It seems to me that Ayesha is acting really….dumb. I mean, I get that she hates living with Amma. I get that she’s madly in love with Moiz and doesn’t want to stay without him. But like it or not, he’s the head of the entire family. He pays for everything, he takes care of everyone, and he’s not exactly Bill Gates; he can’t afford all this. He could start a new life in the UK, but Ayesha doesn’t seem to realize this. I agree that it’s pretty selfish of his family to, as Ayesha said, send him to the UK as a “qurbanikabakra,” but they’re selfish people. They’re also your susral, so deal with it. There’s no point of saying to Moiz “I can’t trust you, I can’t believe a word you say,” etc., because that’s just stupid. The poor guy has to make money somehow, and this is the best option.If Ayesha was thinking logically, then there wouldn’t be such a big problem. There would be some romantic scene where she tells Moiz “Main tumhareybaghairjeenahisakti!” And then Moiz would say some more filmy dialogues and everything would be OK. But that didn’t happen.So Ayesha is already earning the anger of the family, unlike in MeriZaat where Saba was just about the nicest girl in the world.
